Painting has been my salvation and meditation following a tragic loss.  The rediscovery of this art practice from past years has taken me on a journey that continues to heal and nourish my inner spirit. I consider myself an Abstract Expressionist painter and work in acrylics, ink and printmaking, each of which allow me a range of expression. It is, however, the process that excites me; the challenge of making colors, lines, shapes and movement all work together. In the end the painting dictates where it wants to go. My conversation with the painting begins with color then moves to experimentation with layering, veiling, more color, adding and subtracting and mark making. The process is intuitive and spontaneous, with each energetic and sensitive gesture expressing a place, emotion or experience. In my work I frequently reference landscape and the majesty and mystery of nature.

Travels throughout Europe and the United Sates together with frequent art workshop studies and residencies continue to influence my work. Lately the use of Sumi ink has drawn me to the power of black and white that at times surpasses that of color.

Painting for me is a constant exploration into the unknown.

My journey moves forward with hope and the anticipation of surprise.
